The Chico Walnut Tree

A house is only a house until you make it a home. We closed escrow two months ago, are about a week away from finishing renovations but planting this walnut tree in the ground makes this place feel like home to me.

About a year ago my son asked my father for his very own walnut tree. My son wanted to have a walnut tree just like his Papa B. After my father past away, my husband found a seedling starting to sprout up in the burn pile. My son took it and planted it in this red ...pot outside my parents house. We watched it grow last summer and make huge leaves. Then over winter it went dormant and we all wondered if it would make it.
Last time I was home, the walnut tree was starting to show buds pushing. So my son decided it was time to take it to our new house. We brought the pot to our house and found the perfect spot to plant it in the ground.
Yesterday, we dug a hole to begin planting it and it started to rain lightly. We struggled getting the tree out of the pot but we manag…

Aunt Elaine's Chinese Chicken Salad

It's spring and that means the weather is finally nice enough to enjoy being outside. We have even been eating dinner outside on the patio. I love spring and getting to enjoy outside. This way I can be outside playing and relaxing with the family while the barbeque is going. No one likes having to be stuck in the kitchen inside while everyone else is outside.

Well, I have a perfect side dish for your spring time dinners. My husband's Aunt Elaine makes the best Chinese Chicken Salad. When I first moved to the Central Valley, Ela…

What I have been up to...

I shared a few of my thoughts about spring yesterday on social media.
Spring is a time for all things NEW!
New life, new growth, new ideas, new journeys, new challenges. We may not like the new doors that open or we may be rejoicing for the new opportunities that are being presented...

My spring has definitely brought a basket of all things new. It's been a crazy few weeks for me and I feel like I have been slacking when it comes to social media and the blog. I do have a good reason though, so I thought today I would give you an update on what I have been up to and explain my absence.

Spring's first storm brought a wave of sickness to our house. The weekend before spring break started, my son started getting sick. Cough, sore throat, snotty nose, the whole gambit. It was not a fun…
